Art & Grief
4 - 5 pm
Claire Thomas, Dani Netherclift, Andrea Goldsmith & Clara Brack
with Anne Connor
Location:
Reardon Theatre

When language fails in the face of sorrow, the creative arts can offer an alternative pathway through. Chaired by Anne Connor, this panel brings together four gifted writers to discuss how they turn personal and historical trauma into literature. From Claire Thomas’s art-braided journey through sorrow in On Not Climbing Mountains and Dani Netherclift’s powerful lyric essay on family loss in Vessel, to Andrea Goldsmith’s exploration of love and music in The Buried Life, and Clara Brack’s confrontation with her parents' artistic legacy in The Secret Landscapes, these authors examine how the gaps left behind by grief are transformed on the page, and how mourning and memory are processed through the power of creativity.
